Set of 4","description":"Set of 4 Dutch modernist armchairs by the well-known wood craftsman Ate van Apeldoorn, designed and crafted by hand during the 70s in his own workshop in Hattem, The Netherlands.\n\nThe designs of Ate van Apeldoorn have a certain robustness due to the the use of untreated pine wood and the abstract geometry of many of his designs.\n\nThe chairs have aged very well and are often considered as rustic and somewhat brutalist in their appeal.\n\nAll 4 chairs have the makers mark on the inside of the chair.\n\nThe square geometrical shape of the pine wood frame really stands out. The wood connection on the slats is visible on the outer edges, a typical feature of Van Apeldoorn designs. The seat and backrest are placed slightly tilted within the square frame providing for an interesting contrast in geometry. The chairs have been upholstered in patterned cognac leather upholstery.
