This exquisite Carl Fagerlund Acanthus chandelier showcases the designer's mastery of light and form. Known for its various iterations, including floor lamps, this particular model features eight striking glass leaves complemented by elegant gold accents.
The design is inspired by the Acanthus plant, recognized for its bold flower spikes and spiky decorative leaves, native to Mediterranean regions. While this chandelier is likely a collaboration between Carl Fagerlund and Orrefors, it lacks a direct Orrefors label, making it a rare find. Similar pieces, featuring this glass and brass combination, have been attributed to the German company Josef Brumberg.
Carl Fagerlund, born on November 25, 1915, in Kalmar, Sweden, was a prominent designer known for his innovative work in lighting and glass design. He trained in Stockholm, eventually qualifying as a design teacher, and left a lasting legacy in the world of decorative arts.
