Verner Panton

Verner Panton (1926–1998) was the most radical voice in Danish design — a designer who refused the warmth of wood and the caution of Scandinavian restraint in favour of plastic, colour, and pure sculptural form. The Panton Chair (1967), the first single-piece cantilevered plastic chair in the world, became the defining object of its decade.

Panton's interiors — the Visiona environments for Bayer, the Spiegel canteen in Hamburg — remain among the most photographed spaces of the twentieth century. Authentic Panton pieces, produced by Vitra and by the original producers Thonet and Herman Miller, are highly sought by collectors worldwide. Collectors Network features authenticated Verner Panton pieces from specialist vintage dealers.
