Vico Magistretti

Vico Magistretti (1920–2006) was one of the defining architects of post-war Italian design. Working simultaneously with the city's greatest manufacturers — Artemide, Cassina, De Padova, Oluce — he produced a body of work that combined industrial logic with Mediterranean lightness.

The Maralunga sofa, the Carimate chair, the Atollo lamp: each became an icon on first release. Magistretti believed that a well-designed object should look inevitable — as though it could not have been made any other way.
