A striking pair of small bronze sculptures by French artists Anita Tullio and Cokio (Claude Barat), each with a warm golden-brown patina. The Anita Tullio bronze was cast by Bocquel Fondeur and published by Artcurial in a numbered edition of 50.
This example is no. 5/50 and bears the artist's mark, the Bocquel foundry stamp and the Artcurial publisher's stamp. The second bronze is inscribed ‘COKIO ’82 E.A.’ underneath and dates from 1982. The designation E.A. (épreuve d'artiste) identifies it as an artist's proof.
Together, the two sculptures form an appealing dialogue of abstract and organic forms. Their intimate scale makes them particularly suited to a bookshelf, side table or curated collection of modern sculpture.
