Aldo Tura

Aldo Tura (1909–1963) created one of the most distinctive bodies of decorative furniture of the mid-twentieth century. Working in Milan, he perfected a technique of covering wooden structures in lacquered goatskin — pelle di capra — in vivid colours: amber, electric green, coral, deep burgundy. The result is furniture that reads as sculpture.

Tura's bar cabinets, side tables, and boxes are among the most sought-after objects in the Italian mid-century market. The lacquered goatskin develops extraordinary depth and character over decades and is extremely difficult to reproduce, making originals immediately identifiable to experienced eyes.
