Marcello Fantoni

Marcello Fantoni (1915–2011) was a Florentine ceramist whose figurative and abstract work placed him at the intersection of craft, sculpture, and mid-century design. His studio in Florence produced vases, panels, and sculptural objects in glazed stoneware that were exhibited internationally from the 1950s onwards and collected by leading figures of the period.

Fantoni's pieces are characterised by their vigorous surface modelling, their rich earth-toned glazes, and a sculptural energy that distinguishes them from the more refined tradition of Italian studio ceramics.
