Helge Sibast

Helge Sibast (1917–2005) was a Danish cabinet maker and designer whose work embodies the quietest virtues of mid-century Scandinavian furniture: exceptional joinery, honest use of teak and rosewood, and a proportional sense that makes his chairs and tables feel right in any room. Sibast studied at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts and showed regularly at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild exhibitions through the 1950s.

His No. 7 and No. 8 chairs, with their sculpted teak frames and woven cane backs, are classic expressions of Danish modernism at its most refined. Sibast pieces are increasingly recognised as undervalued within the broader Scandinavian collector market.
