This exceptional Hollywood Regency wall unit or room divider was specially commissioned for the legendary Carlton Hotel in Copenhagen and dates back to the 1950s, a period defined by glamour, craftsmanship, and architectural elegance in Denmark. Designed as a statement piece for the hotel’s reception hall, it was never a private object but a public icon, experienced by generations of international guests as part of the hotel’s first impression.
The design is striking and theatrical, featuring sculptural ram’s heads with beautifully detailed rings, paired with ram’s legs forming the base of the structure. These classical motifs evoke strength, prestige, and timeless luxury, perfectly aligned with the Hollywood Regency style’s love for bold symbolism and dramatic form. The entire piece is constructed from metal and was originally fully finished in gold paint, giving it a radiant, opulent presence that reflected light and attention within the space.
As both a wall unit and room divider, this piece was created to define space without closing it off, blending function with visual drama. Its architectural presence makes it feel more like an interior installation or sculptural artwork than conventional furniture.
